Pre-Construction Surveys
The Level Crossing Removal Project: Caulfield to Dandenong was established to remove nine of Melbourne’s most congested level crossings along the Caulfield to Dandenong corridor, and completely rebuild 5 stations on Melbourne’s busiest rail line by late 2018. Existing Condition Surveys were carried out prior to commencement of construction and involved:
- Property Condition Surveys for 3000 residential dwellings within 50m of the rail corridor
- Existing Condition Surveys for 25kms of roads adjacent to the rail corridor
- 65kms of rail corridor, capturing Metro Asset conditions
Out of the 3000 properties offered a Property Condition Survey, 995 took up the offer.
Detailed dilapidation surveys were undertaken using tablet based mobile data capture platform, allowing GPS position of photos and videos to be recorded. Comments on conditions could also be observed; cloud-based data management system; automated PDF report generation containing table of defects and an online survey booking system.
Post-Construction Surveys
On completion of the project works, post construction surveys were carried out. These surveys were undertaken to detect any change in condition potentially caused by the infrastructure works.
